The cookie banner is the box that asks visitors to your shop whether they accept cookies for functionality, statistics and marketing. The banner is turned off to begin with — you turn it on when you need it, for example when you use Google Analytics or Google Tag Manager.

Go to SettingsLegal and click the Cookie banner row under Cookies.
Turn on Show cookie banner

You need admin permissions to change the banner.
What the visitor sees#
The banner is shown to visitors who haven't made a choice in the last twelve months. It has three buttons:
- Accept all — accepts functional cookies, statistics and marketing.
- Deny all — only necessary cookies are used.
- Settings — the visitor chooses for each category: Functional, Statistics and Marketing. Necessary is always on.
The banner's texts are standard texts that follow the shop's language. You don't need to write them yourself.
The visitor changes their choice on /cookies#
When the banner is on, your shop's cookie policy, /cookies, shows a box where the visitor can change their choice at any time. The banner links there with Read more and change your choice.
The link and the box are only there if the cookie policy is published. Write it under SettingsLegal — see Legal. That's also where you can describe which cookies are used; visitors find their way there from the banner's settings.
Google Consent Mode v2#
When the banner is on, there's a Google Consent Mode v2 switch. It's on from the start.
- On: Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager load only once the visitor has accepted statistics or marketing, and they receive the visitor's choice as consent signals.
- Off: the banner asks and saves the choice, but Google Analytics and Tag Manager load straight away as usual.
Leave it on unless you have a particular reason to turn it off. If you use your own consent tool in Tag Manager, read more in Google Tag Manager.
Awrora gives you the tool, but it's up to you as a business to decide what consent your shop needs and what the cookie policy should say.
Consents are logged#
Every time a visitor makes a choice it's saved anonymously: what the visitor chose, when and in which language. Nothing that identifies the visitor is saved — no IP address and no ID. Choices are only saved while the banner is on.
Aurora#
Aurora can turn the banner on or off, change its position and change Consent Mode for you. She can also help you write the cookie policy — ask her, for example, to "turn on the cookie banner in the bottom right". Read more in AI assistant.
